
With the election season officially behind us and the campaign mailings and robo-calls coming to a halt, everyone seems to be getting back into a normal routine and gearing up for the holidays. Let's take a quick look back at some of the stories featured on Patch.
Last week Patch launched on Monday highlighting local favorite events like the Kiwanis Annual Halloween Parade on Crofton Parkway and the Greater Crofton Chamber's Community Awards Banquet at the Blue Dolphin Seafood Bar and Grill.
The very next day elections were upon us and the Crofton community spoke with polling places becoming progressively crowded as closing time neared. Election judges sited no major problems but voters during the evening rush saw longer lines.

Newly elected officials include Jerry Walker who beat out Torrey Jacobsen for the 7th District County Councilman seat; Maryland State Delegates include Cathy Vitale and Tony McConkey; Ed Reilly remains the State Senator as he ran uncontested; John Leopold was elected into his second term as County Executive and Governor Martin O'Malley also kept his seat beating out Robert Elrich in the governor's race.
One of the most controversial questions on the ballot had to do with Question A and slots were the winner with the final count showing 106,346 for slots and 850,062 against. Anne Arundel voters approved the ballot question that will allow slots at the Arundel Mills Mall.

Patch also spoke with and profiled mother of Christopher Jones, Jennifer Adkins, as she talked candidly on a number of topics including youth violence and meeting with reformed inmates at the Jessup Correctional Institution.
One reader tipped Patch off to a bomb threat at Kmart late Thursday night and police confirmed that the store was evacuated and after a thorough search no suspicious individuals or vehicles were found on the scene.
Other stories throughout the week ranged from a local expert in romance novels toholiday portrait tips from a professional photographer in the area.
As we look ahead to Veterans Day on Thursday we also highlighted the works of the Crofton Village Garden Club and their annual flower-arranging event for wounded veterans at a VA Hospital in Baltimore.
