Every morning I receive "The Word of The Day" in my email. Most days, I learn a word and think to myself, with as much reading as I do, how have I never heard of this word. However, this morning was different, I finally learned a word to put with a condition I’ve now had for the past ten years, exciting right? The word is, lethologica, which means, the inability to remember a particular word or name. I know every one of you reading this, “gets it!” Most people my age (29), refer to this as "brain fog." There is not a day that goes by that I don’t call my husband or kids and ask them a name or a word for something.
This is just one of many symptoms we have to laugh at as we get older, and it got me thinking of all of the funny things that happen to all of us as we age.
Throughout the day, our bodies play different symphonies as we move about, the old nursery rhyme, my neck bone is connected to my shoulder bone comes into play as our necks, knees, and backs all crack, and lord help us if we drop something and no one is around to pick it up for us. Personally, my body screams out sounding like my grandmother when she was playing mah jongg, GOING OUT!

For those of us that still like to take a bath, just the thought, some days of getting out makes us pay closer attention to those walk in bathtub infomercials in the middle of the night as we are up, sweating our butts off with our heads in the freezer!
A few more, well, a lot more funny things came to mind today when I was thinking about aging. It used to be, a man would give me his number, now he gives me his seat! We are finally at an age that we can do whatever we want only, but we’re too tired to do any of it.

At a certain age, us silver foxes have all new acronyms to learn, LDL HDL, and, just the magical three numbers on the scale, all of these are always going in the wrong direction. In my day, A&W made a great root beer float! When I see this acronym on my doctor's chart, I take it to mean alive and well!
This is a first of many in a new series on finding the funny in the not so funny about aging. I will be leading Lunch and Laugh get-togethers at Nordstrom and other places as soon as we are in the clear. If you or your group is interested in a Lunch and Laugh, email me at bkdp01@gmail.com Until next time, remember, those who laugh, last!
