Woman Pleads Guilty To Stealing Over $180K From Employers

A Crofton woman pleaded guilty to stealing over $180,000 from her former employers through two schemes.

ANNE ARUNDEL CO., MD — Carolyn Rae Aldridge, a 56-year-old woman from Crofton, pleaded guilty Monday to stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from her former employers over a period of several years.

A release issued by the office of Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown notes Aldridge stole a combined total of $185,296.28 by depositing stolen checks into her personal accounts.

Between August 2017 to January 2021, Aldridge stole 96 checks from home improvement firm American Builders Corporation, Inc. She had served as the company's office manager.

In total, she stole $173,004.43 from the company.

Aldridge stole another 13 checks from January 2020 to February 2021 from the Maryland Automobile Insurance Fund, where she previously worked in the fiscal department.

The second scheme by Aldridge amounted to a loss of $12,291.85, according to the release.

Sentencing for the two separate felony schemes will take place Aug. 11.
