• Run Like Michael 5K (mocoshow.com) — A new 5K trail run and 1-mile walk is coming to the Bretton Woods trails in Darnestown on October 11, giving local residents a chance to run, walk, or cheer for a cause. The Run Like Michael 5K will raise funds for addiction prevention, education, treatment, and family support, inviting participants, sponsors, and donors to help reduce stigma and strengthen hope.
• No More Angry Beavers: Hunting Creek Lake Reopens After Rabies Scare (thebaynet.com) — State officials have reopened Hunting Creek Lake in Cunningham Falls State Park after determining no beavers remain in the area following a rabies scare. They're also still investigating a separate beaver-related incident at Seneca Creek State Park near Darnestown, while reminding residents to keep a safe distance from wildlife and seek medical care after any bites or scratches.
