1. Baltimore Comic-Con

Where/When: Baltimore Convention Center, 1 W. Pratt St., Baltimore. Saturday, Aug. 20 and Sunday, Aug. 21.

Why Go: 12th annual event honors legendary comic book author Stan Lee, co-creator of Spider-Man, the Hulk, Ironman and the Fantastic Four, among other characters.

2. Baltimore Ravens vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Where/When: Baltimore Ravens vs. Kansas City Chiefs. M & T Bank Stadium, Baltimore. Friday, Aug. 19.

Why Go: Ravens need to bounce back from lackluster offensive performance in preseason opener against the Eagles. A chance to see new veteran acquistions, wide receiver Lee Evans and running back Ricky Williams in action.

3. St. Gabriel Festival

Where/When: Little Italy, Baltimore. Saturday, Aug. 20 and Sunday, Aug. 21.

Why Go: $1 admission for a big block party with great food, bocce, music and dancing.

4. New Mercury Reading Series: Roots of Steel

Where/When: The Wind Up Space, 10 North Ave., Baltimore. Saturday, Aug. 20, 5:30 p.m.

Why Go: Dundalk-native Deborah Rudacille reads from her book," Roots of Steel: Boom and Bust in an American Steel Town," updated for its paperback release.

5. Charm City Roller Girls

Where/When: DuBurns Arena, 1301 S. Ellwood St., Canton. Saturday, Aug. 20. Doors open 5:30 p.m.

Why Go: From the website: "In the second bout, the Charm City Roller Girls All Stars end their home season facing the Dairyland Dolls of the Mad Rollin' Dolls of Madison, WI."
