DUNDALK, MD — A floral business that has served the Dundalk community for more than 115 years is permanently closing next month.

"For a century, it has been our privilege to be a part of your lives — helping you celebrate life's happiest moments, express love, offer comfort during times of sorrow, and mark the many special occasions that bring us together," reads the announcement.

"Your loyalty, friendship, and trust have meant more to us than words can express. We would also like to extend our deepest appreciation to our past/current employees, whose hard work, dedication, care and commitment have helped make Dundalk Florist what it is today."

"Dundalk Florist may be closing its doors, but the memories, friendships, and love we've shared will always remain," it added.

The announcement has rattled the community, prompting many residents to recall their own memories with the floral business.

"We were so fortunate to have such a wonderful florist and greenhouse in Dundalk," one comment reads. "I'll always remember the miniature orange trees in the greenhouse."

"I worked there in the late '90s while I was in college and have used them for weddings, funerals and special occasions ever since," reads another post.

One commenter wrote, "My marriage didn't last, but I will never forget how beautiful my wedding flowers were."

The closing announcement has also forced many to recall the March closing of another family-owned business that was around for more than 100 years: Herman's Bakery.

"So sad to see the landmarks of Dundalk leaving: Herman's Bakery, now the Dundalk Florist. Who will be next?" another commenter wrote.

A sign posted to the shop's entrance states the florist will be holding a closeout sale starting on Monday.

Until last call, the shop will continue to keep its doors open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
