The athletic fields at , home of the Bear Creek Recreation Council, were vandalized late Thursday night or early Friday morning, according to a press release from the rec council. The recent vandalism is the second incident in a month, Bear Creek Recreation Council volunteers said.
Volunteers worked on repairing the extensive damage to the fields Friday, but games for this weekend were still in doubt going into Saturday morning. The damage was caused by an automobile, truck or four-wheel vehicle tearing up the field, leaving deep tracks.
Paula Waddell, secretary for Bear Creek Recreation Council, said she and other parents planned to look at the fields again early Saturday and make a decision at that time whether youth soccer games, scheduled to begin later in the morning, could go ahead. "Unfortunately, this senseless act makes the field unplayable for the local youth as the field damage can easily cause player injury," Waddell wrote. "On any give weekend, we have 250-300 children playing on those fields."

She added that one of the goal posts appeared to have been struck by a vehicle as well. A report was filed with county police, Waddell said.
"Council members and parent volunteers worked tirelessly to correct the damage caused by the incident a month ago," wrote Donna Zubrowski, treasurer for Bear Creek Recreation Council. "The damage is far worse this time."
