I was rushing out of the house this morning (as I usually do) to get to work on time. While driving down Merritt Blvd, I caught the light at the corner of Merritt and Wise (dang it!). While (im)patiently waiting for the light to turn green, I looked across the street, and standing there in front of the Poplar Inn were ALL of our newly elected local officials. Todd Crandell, Robin Grammer, Bob Long, Ric Metzgar, and Johnny Salling were waving to everyone driving by, thanking each and every one of us for our support. βThank Youβ signs surrounded them. In the Poplar Inn parking lot, the sounds of Lee Greenwoodβs, βGod Bless the USAβ played loudly.
I was so proud of every one of our newly elected officials for their fortitude, perseverance, and professionalism throughout this past year, that this gracious act brought me to tears. (I know .... I get kinda sappy.) As the light turned green and as I drove past them, I wound down my passenger window, honked my horn, waved and yelled out, βgreat job!!β Each of one those gentlemen bent over in unison, looked right into my car and yelled back, βTHANK YOU!!β

Those few seconds not only made me proud to be a Dundalkian, but thrilled that we voted the right people into office.
