Deadly Dundalk Hit-and-Run: Driver Indicted in August Crash

The suspect in the fatal pedestrian-involved crash on North Point Boulevard from the summer was arrested, Baltimore County police reported.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Nearly four months after a 23-year-old from Sparrows Point was killed while walking on North Point Boulevard, police have identified the driver in the deadly hit-and-run.

Daniel Earl Lawrence, 29, of the 400 block of Riverside Drive, was indicted on charges of failing to stop at the scene of an accident involving death, failing to return and remain at the scene of an accident involving death and failing to immediately stop at the scene of an accident involving death.

Crash team investigators allege Lawrence hit a pedestrian on North Point Boulevard at 12:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23.

Keith Curtis Tawney, 23, of the 2500 block of Lodge Forrest Drive, had been walking south on North Point Boulevard when a vehicle hit him and drove away, police said.

Tawney was pronounced deceased at the scene on North Point Boulevard near Cove Road, officials reported.

After he was indicted, Lawrence posted bail Monday and was released, according to court records.
