Dundalk Connection in Anne Arundel CC Leadership Change
Outgoing, incoming presidents both served — though at different times — at the former Dundalk Community College.
Anne Arundel Community College announced on Tuesday the appointment of Dawn Lindsay as its next president, succeeeding Martha A. "Marty" Smith, who has held that position for 18 years.
Lindsay, who will take office Aug. 1, will become the sixth president in the college's 50-year history, according to a press release issued by the college.
When Lindsay takes over for Smith, it will be a transfer of leadership that has Dundalk connections.

Many Dundalk Patch readers may recognize Smith's name and recall her leadership of the Dundalk campus of The Community College of Baltimore County, then known as Dundalk Community College.
After Smith left DCC to become president at Anne Arundel Community College in 1994, Lindsay taught at Dundalk, according to Severn Patch.

The president-select told Severn Patch that the connection between the two women serves as a reminder of how small the community college world is.
Lindsay, a Maryland native, is the president of Glendale Community College in California, according to the AACC statement.
"Anne Arundel Community College is a real jewel," Lindsay said in the statement. "I have been watching this college and I believe in its mission."
She called the chance to lead AACC a "wonderful opportunity" to return to her roots.
Smith believes the college will be in capable hands when Lindsay takes over.
"I have total confidence in her outstanding leadership to take AACC into its next chapter of excellence, and look forward to working with her to ensure a successful transition," Smith said in the AACC statement.
