Dundalk Officer Shoots Stabbing Suspect in D.C.: Police

An officer with the Baltimore County Police Department is on routine leave after shooting someone who allegedly stabbed a woman over the weekend, officials reported Monday.

Officer Mussini, who works in the Dundalk precinct, was involved in a shooting at Union Station in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, Nov. 14, the Baltimore County Police Department reported.

He was inside the station when a man allegedly slashed a woman outside the entrance to the metro at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

The suspect—identified as Rashad Bugg-Bey, 25, of Northeast, D.C.—entered Union Station still holding the knife and walked toward the off-duty officer, police reported.

Mussini ordered him to drop the weapon, and when he would not, the officer shot him, according to Metropolitan Police.

Officials said Bugg-Bey was detained, taken to the hospital and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.

The woman who had been stabbed was taken to the hospital for treatment, in addition to a second woman, who sustained a non-life-threatening injury as a result of the gunshot, police reported.

Baltimore County officials say Mussini has not been involved in any other police-involved shootings.

He is currently on routine leave, which is standard procedure after a police-involved shooting, according to the department.
