Dundalk Schools Cleared After Report Of Shots Fired: Police

The investigation into a report of shots fired in Dundalk is ongoing, police said Thursday afternoon.

DUNDALK, MD โ€” Schools in the Dundalk area have been cleared for dismissal, according to the Baltimore County Police Department. Law enforcement made the announcement after 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 9.

Several schools had been placed on alert due to a report of shots fired in the vicinity of Cornwall Road, authorities said before 3 p.m.

"Police remain in the area completing their investigation," officials said after 3:30 p.m.

Due to police activity in the area, Baltimore County Public Schools canceled a program called the "Behavior Summit: Pathways to Success," which had been scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at Sollers Point High School on Delvale Avenue. Officials said it would be rescheduled for a later date.

Students at Dundalk Elementary, Middle and High schools will not be dismissed until further notice, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

Dundalk Middle, Logan Elementary and Dundalk Elementary schools are on alert status, Baltimore County Public Schools tweeted after 3 p.m.

Students who walk from Dundalk High School are being held, according to school officials.
