26 Juveniles Arrested At Eastpoint Mall: Police

The carnival has been canceled after a disturbance at Eastpoint Mall prompted a multi-agency response from police in the region.

DUNDALK, MD — More than 20 people were arrested Sunday night near Eastpoint Mall, according to the Baltimore County Police Department. It was the second large disturbance at the Dundalk area shopping center in less than a month.

Police said that 26 youths were charged as juveniles with disorderly conduct as a result of the incident, which occurred after the mall closed.

Eastpoint Mall closed at 6 p.m on Sunday, April 21.

At least 1,000 people leaving a carnival near the mall prompted the police response after 6 p.m., according to authorities.

The Jolly Shows carnival outside the mall was supposed to continue until 11 p.m. It was also slated to run from April 17 to May 5; but the day after the arrests, Eastpoint Mall posted a notice on its website stating: "The Jolly Shows Carnival will be closed for the remainder of the days scheduled at Eastpoint Mall."

Multiple fights had reportedly erupted at the carnival Sunday evening, and Maryland State Police, the Baltimore Police Department and Maryland Transit Administration assisted the Baltimore County officers in the response.

Police ended the carnival as they conducted crowd control, The Baltimore Sun reported.

Nobody was injured in the disturbance, police reported.

The disturbance on Sunday came a little more than three weeks after another incident sparked police presence at the shopping center. In that case, police said hundreds of youths were involved in destructive behaviors outside the mall around 9 p.m. on Friday, March 29.

INITIAL REPORT — There is increased police activity around Eastpoint Mall on Easter, according to authorities. A disturbance at the carnival outside the shopping center in Dundalk prompted the police presence after the mall closed, officials said in a report after 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 21.

Officers from Baltimore County were responding to the incident Sunday night, with support from the Baltimore Police Department.

Eastpoint Mall was scheduled to close at 6 p.m on Sunday.

The Jolly Shows carnival outside the mall was supposed to continue until 11 p.m.
