EXCLUSIVE: Couple’s Crimes Cleared by Court

Who says that crime doesn’t pay, folks?

A former Baltimore County Police Sergeant charged in connection with his wife’s 100,000 theft case had all charges dismissed today by Baltimore County Circuit Court Judge Mickey Norman.

Judge Norman is a former state trooper turned prosecutor.

Sergeant Daniel Gregory Galloway, 40, an 18-year-veteran of the Baltimore County Police Department was assigned to the Tactical Unit of the Special Operations Section (TACT Team), was charged with the following:

• Conspiracy to Commit Theft over $100,000
• Theft Over $100,000
• Conspiracy to Commit Theft $10,000 to $100,000 (five counts)
• Theft $10,000 to $100,000 (four counts)
• Theft $1,000 to $10,000

Sergeant Galloway was subsequently suspended after a criminal citation (not an arrest) was issued.

Although details are sketchy at this point, my sources stated that the prosecution did not get a chance to present any evidence as the charges against Galloway were dismissed.

The Baltimore County States Attorney’s Office had little to say about the dismissal, other than confirming the verdict. When I asked to speak to the prosecutor, Adam Lippe, he was not available.

I should have more complete details tomorrow if Mr. Lippe is available for comment.

Mr. Galloway now joins his wife, the alleged main perpetrator of the theft scheme, in avoiding any consequences as a result of the thefts. You might recall that Tina Galloway was given PBJ (probation before judgment) as a result of paying restitution—she was even praised by the judge for doing so

The big problem with that, folks, is that the money Mrs. Galloway paid for the restitution was borrowed from a friend; as far as I am aware, that money has not been paid back.

I will attempt to verify all of the facts in this case.

My sources have also told me that the TACT Team’s commander, Major Butch Wilson, was more involved in the current problems within the unit. Those problems have created division in the unit, which has led to veteran officers leaving the TACT Team.

I intend to dig deep on this one because, if what I’m hearing is true, there are some serious problems with this one.
