2 Undercover Narcotics Detectives Injured, 3 in Custody: Police

Officers who witnessed alleged drug activity were victims of two hit-and-run crashes, Baltimore County police reported Thursday afternoon.

DUNDALK, MD โ€” Two undercover detectives were injured Thursday while conducting a narcotics investigation in Dundalk, according to the Baltimore County Police Department. Three people were arrested in connection with the hit-and-run, which police said sent one of the officers to shock trauma.

The officers had tried to stop a gray Honda Accord and a white vehicle that they believed were involved in a drug transaction near the intersection of Aldworth and Manchester roads around 11:30 a.m., police reported.

The white car hit an unmarked police cruiser, then struck the detective outside the cruiser before leaving the scene, police allege. Officers in Baltimore City took the driver into custody on an unrelated charge, police said.

The officer who was hit was taken by ambulance to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment of injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

As the other driver attempted to leave the scene, further complications arose. The gray Honda Accord hit a curb, then the driver got out and ran to a dark vehicle. Police said that a woman was driving the vehicle, which struck a detective who was running to stop them. That vehicle was also stopped in Baltimore City, where the woman and driver of the Accord were both detained, police reported.
