In the first match of the season for both teams, Dundalk defeated Kenwood 56-24.
“Last night was a great start for our guys,” said Dundalk headcoach Chad Goodnight. “New guys got a taste of victory and a look at what to expect during a dual meet. Returning guys got a chance to stretch their mat legs.”
Kenwood's Dominic Purcell pinned Dundalk's Joe Scott in the first match, which put the Owls in a 0-6 team point whole. A pin by Owl John Flanary of Kenwood's Ryan Feeheley in the last 5-seconds of the match tied the team score. Dundalk's Wanya Carter defeated Faith Sienuarine 12-4.

In order to get a match in, Alfred Martinez of Dundalk moved up a weight class to wrestle Anthony Pelekakis of Kenwood. Martimez dominated his opponent with multiple take-downs and threatened to pin him at one point. Martimez won a 13-3 major decision.
“I was happy with Alfred’s match,” said Goodnight. “We bumped him up a weight to fill a hole at 132, and he came through for us. I wasn’t happy with the pace of the match though; I’d like to see him come out firing at full intensity.”

The Dundalk heavyweights finished things off strongly with three consecutive pins by Joe Doetsh, Sean Miskimon and Wayne Maddox.
“Joe and Wayne are captains this year,” said Goodnight. “Sean looks very solid; he wrestled at Eastern Tech until this year. He’s got some work to do, but with his athleticism he should do pretty good. He’s a great kid and a lot of fun, but also a hard worker.”
Miskimon starred on both sides of the Owl Football team's offensive line this past season and represented Baltimore County in the All-Star game.
