When the two schools meet on the athletic field, it is always a big rivalry.
When Sparrows Point and Dundalk meet on the athletic field, it's always a big deal, a rivalry for the ages. So when the Pointers and the Owls wrestling teams travel to Parkville for a tri-meet, local reputations will be on the line.
“It's like Ravens/Steelers week when we wrestle Sparrows Point,” said Owls wrestler Alfred Martinez.

The Pointers look to bring the momentum of a 10-0 record, a huge win over Eastern Tech and a first place finish in the Joppatowne Duals Tournament.
“This is a great rivalry. We always battle with Sparrows Point and you never know exactly how it'll turn out,” said Dundalk coach Chad Gooodnight.

The Owls are also riding recent success with a third place finish at the Last Man Standing Duals, an 8-2 overall record and a victory over Kenwood.
The meet might come down to a match-up between Dundalk's Joe Doetsch and Sparrows Point's James Krug at 195. Both wrestlers are undefeated with Krug winning the Outstanding Upperweight award at the Joppatowne Duals and Doetch taking first at the Last Man Standing Duals.
“I'm really looking forward to the Doetsch and Krug match,” said Goodnight. “Both are excellent wrestlers and this will be the first real test for them.”
The meet will take place at 4 p.m. today at Parkville High School.
