Readers' Choice: Best Place to Celebrate St. Paddy's Day

Whether your favorite place to celebrate the day of wearing o' the green is at a local pub, church dinner or neighborhood parade, we want you to vote in our poll.

St. Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17, which is the saint's religious feast day and also the anniversary of his fifth-century death, according to history.com.

In Ireland, the holiday is associated with morning church services and  afternoon celebrations, according to the website. Because St. Patrick's Day falls within the Christian season of Lent, which prohibits the consumption of meat, special waivers allow people to dance, drink and eat the traditional meal of Irish bacon and cabbage on the day that honors the nation's patron saint.

Here in the United States, the holiday is more known for drinking parties and the wearing o' the green.

While the most obvious place to celebrate might be a local pub or tavern, it's common for churches and other organizations to throw corned beef and cabbage dinners and other celebrations of their own.

In addition to local pubs, Patch has included Dundalk's own St. Patrick's Day parade as one of the choices in the poll.

If your favorite place to celebrate St. Paddy's Day isn't listed, please add it in the comments so it can be added to the poll.

Voting is open from 5 a.m. Monday through 9 a.m. Friday.

Because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on poll results, comments below and reviews on Patch Places.

Please vote only once per survey, per Patch.
