Shooting Sends 7-Year-Old, Father to Hospital: Police

A shooting in Dundalk Saturday night injured two peopleโ€”a father and his 7-year-old son; the suspect is related to them, police say.

DUNDALK, MD โ€“ A man and his 7-year-old son are hospitalized as the result of a domestic-related shooting Saturday night in Dundalk, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

Police said a womanโ€”the boy's estranged motherโ€”was taken into custody in connection with the shooting, which occurred in the 7300 block of School Avenue at approximately 7:05 p.m. on Saturday.

The 30-year-old woman had been arguing over custody in front of the residence with the boy's father when the 31-year-old man began to move his son inside, at which point she allegedly produced a gun and shot her estranged husband in the upper body and the boyโ€”their sonโ€”in the lower body, police reported.

Both suffered injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening and were being treated at area hospitals, according to police. Officials said the woman was taken into custody at the scene.

This was the second major domestic-related violent crime reported on Saturday by the Baltimore County Police Department.; earlier in the day, a woman was taken into custody after police allege she stabbed her boyfriend during an argument in Owings Mills; authorities said he was in critical condition.
