Three Injured in Dundalk Fire; Two Dogs Presumed Dead

An early-morning fire Thursday caused significant damage to one house and spread to an adjacent house in West Inverness, according to Baltimore County Fire Department officials.

Crews responded at about 12:30 a.m. Dec. 26 to the 2000 block of Dineen Drive for the report of a house fire, according to fire department spokesman Lt. Jay Ringgold.

Upon their arrival, firefighters found the end-of-group row home with heavy fire on the first and second floors, according to Ringgold.

Three adult occupants of the house—one man and two women—jumped from second-floor windows to escape the blaze. All three suffered second- and third-degree burns on their hands and faces as well as fall-related injuries. They were taken to the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center's burn center in stable condition, according to Ringgold.

Two dogs were reported missing and are presumed dead, according to the spokesman.

The fire spread from the attic of the original structure to an adjacent house.

A total of seven people were displaced by the blaze, according to Ringgold. The house where the fire started is heavily damaged and unlivable. The three injured residents were the only occupants.

Four people living in the second home—three adults and one child—will not be able to return to the house until it is repaired, according to Ringgold. Their home sustained roof, smoke and water damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
