Water Rescue Underway Near Edgemere, Officials Say

EDGEMERE, MD — First responders were working to rescue two boaters Sunday afternoon near Fort Howard, officials said.

A vessel was in distress in the area, Baltimore County EMS Lieutenant Tim Rostkowski said before 2:30 p.m.

According to Rostkowski, there were two people aboard in need of assistance.

The National Weather Service issued a gale warning Sunday, meaning winds were 34 to 47 knots and recreational boaters should seek safe harbor. Winds were 51 mph in Edgemere as of 11:30 a.m., according to unofficial data provided by the weather service.
