12 Days of Christmas Gifts: Day Five—the Traveler

It seems like saying "Buy Local" has become the in thing to do, but for small businesses in our area, there is nothing new about shopping locally. For the next 12 days, we're going to post an item each day showcasing some of the great businesses in Edgewater and Davidsonville.

Day Five: This shopping trip can be easily folded into your already-hectic holiday lifestyle because everything you need can be had at the gift card kiosks at  or  right here in Edgewater.

Is your uncle the sort of guy who loves to get away from it all? Your niece  someone who works like crazy all year just to get away for two weeks in the islands? If so, give them travel and vacation gift cards.

First is airfare. A gift card to Southwest Airlines is available for use as cash on any flight. You know those $29 Tampa-Baltimore specials the airline runs in the travel section in February? A $50 Southwest gift card practically covers the airfare in both directions.

If you don't want to tie them down to a specific airline, go for a Visa or MasterCard gift card and print out some excursion ideas from Expedia or Travelocity.

If you know someone who faithfully takes the family to Disney or Universal Studios every spring break, gift cards to those places are available. They are good for hotel, food, theme park tickets and more.

A skiier in the family? Give a gift card to Seven Springs ski and winter resort in Pennsylvania (the card is also good in summer when Seven Springs becomes a golf resort).

In fact, the local gift card kiosks have a good selection of restaurants and retailers in case your "gotta get away" family or friend also likes to eat out while they are away.

Really, the gift card kiosks can make ideal shopping for the hard-to-buy-for or the last-minute shopper.
