2 Left Homeless After Edgewater Fire Causes $150K In Damage

An Edgewater house sustained $150,000 in damage from a fire that displaced two residents, county fire officials said.

EDGEWATER, MD — Two Edgewater residents are without a home after a Feb. 1 fire caused $150,000 in damage, Anne Arundel County Fire officials said. Authorities are still working to determine where the fire started in the home at 307 Oakwood Road, and what might have caused the blaze.

There is no word yet on whether the one and a half story house had working smoke alarms. No injuries to the residents or fire department personnel were reported.

A total of 46 firefighters from the Anne Arundel and Annapolis fire departments brought the fire under control in about 35 minutes. Officials say several 911 calls were made by neighbors and passersby who reported the fire.

Firefighters arrived to find fire throughout the house, as well as through the roof of the dwelling.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by members of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit.

Two adults have been displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross.
