Semen Found In Syringes Tied To Attack, More Victims Possible

Syringes tested by police after a woman was attacked in Churchton show that some had traces of semen. Police say there may be more victims.

CHURCHTON, MD — Syringes tested by police after a woman was attacked in a Churchton grocery store parking lot show that some had traces of semen. Anne Arundel County Police said Friday that there may be more victims.

According to the police department, the syringes tested were obtained during the investigation into the attack on a woman in the parking lot of Christopher's Fine Food. Authorities do not yet know if these syringes include the one used in the Feb. 18 attack. Additional testing will be conducted.

Detectives believe there may be additional victims who have yet to report similar incidents and officials ask that anyone with any information call the Southern District station at 410-222-1960 or the TipLine 410-222-4700.

The victim told police a man stuck her with a syringe as she walked through the grocery store parking lot at 5570 Shady Side Road. After releasing video surveillance from the business, on Feb. 25, detectives received a tip that led them to Thomas Bryon Stemen of Churchton. Stemen was arrested and charged with first-, and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.
