BWI Marshall Airport Confrontation Ends With Flight Attendant Charged: Report

A flight attendant with Sun Country Airlines was charged with second-degree assault after an altercation with a passenger.

ODENTON, MD — A flight attendant with Sun Country Airlines is facing a second-degree assault charge after a confrontation broke out with a passenger at BWI Marshall Airport, according to a report.

The incident, which occurred Monday, began after passenger Lauren Price sat in a seat she'd paid for but was not originally assigned. CBS Baltimore reported Price booked 19 seats but switched seats so members of her girls' flag football team could sit together.

Price told the outlet that flight attendant Jean Riegelman made racially motivated comments toward her and her team when she instructed her to sit in her assigned seat and was later deplaned and forced to book another flight.

The assault charge stems from a second incident where Riegelman is said to have swatted a phone from the hand of Price's sister, who was trying to record the flight attendant.

Court records show Riegelman is booked for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 14 in Glen Burnie.
