Maryland State Police are investigating a body that was found near the border of Anne Arundel and Prince George's counties by a river.

QUEEN ANNE ESTATES, MD — Maryland State Police are investigating the death of an unidentified person whose body was found near the border of Anne Arundel and Prince George's counties by the Patuxent River. There is no determination if a crime was committed or what caused the death, authorities said, but nothing has been ruled out as the investigation continues.
Someone walking in the wooded area about 2 p.m. Sunday noticed the body of the deceased, lying unresponsive and called 9-1-1. The victim has not yet been identified; authorities have not released the sex of the victim, an estimated age, or other details. The body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
Maryland Natural Resources Police were first called for the report of the body, and that agency then had the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit take over the investigation. After an examination of the body by a forensic expert at the scene, it is unclear the cause and manner of the death and all possibilities are being considered, police said.
