Edgewater Park Pressbox

In January 2011, South River Youth Athletics celebrated the ground-breaking for their new pressbox at Edgewater Park. This was some exciting news considering, in the past, our announcers stood in the back of a pick-up truck talking over a public announcement system. It got the job done, but wasn't exemplary. Through fundraising and donations, enough money was raised to begin construction.

I remember last season playing at a field with a pressbox similar to what the SRYA is building. Quite a few parks have them in the county, but this one played music! It seriously took the game to a whole new level. The boys were dancing on the sidelines and everyone was enjoying the tunes. Yes, I realize there's no dancing in football, but it was funny to watch and we all had a great time. I'm hoping our pressbox will add that same level of excitement. The boys are going to love hearing their names and numbers being announced. Hopefully, this may also help when penalties are called. Sometimes it can be a bit confusing when your team gets penalized and you're not sure why. The pressbox will also be useful for announcing raffles, SRYA apparel and items that are lost or found.

Currently, the pressbox is still under construction and has just received it's roof. I think everyone will agree that it's a great addition to , the home of the Seahawks!
