Gator Homecoming Football Recap Weekend of 10/13

Gators Football celebrated their Homecoming weekend, going 5-2 against their competition. Special thanks to Margaret Miller who coordinated the entire event and all of the volunteers who put in many hours making this a special event for the kids.
70lb
Gators - 24 ABGC - 6
70lb gators faced off Saturday against the Annapolis boys and girls club for the gators homecoming. The gators jumped out to an early lead and never looked back with four touchdowns by Daniel Holmes. Other notable performances by QB James Keenan and Silvanus Spence. On defense Daniel Pavon and Wesley Caudill had 5 and 6 tackles respectively. All 17 gators contributed to this fantastic performance. Gators won 24-6 and will face off against the SRYA Seahawks on the Saturday October 27 at 1:30PM at SRHS.

80lb
Gators – 6 ABGC - 20
The 80# Gators have had a rough couple of games, but came out fighting on Saturday in their Homecoming game against AB&GC. Justin Martin, Justin Stahl and Nathan Zacharski all contributed greatly to the offensive plays throughout the game. Ethan Doudna scored the only touchdown for the Gators on a run into the end zone. On defense, Logan recovered 2 fumbles by AB&GC to give the Gators another try at the end zone. Defensively, Alano Harley, Brian Johnson, Colby Chaney, Miles Waters, Jaxson Giordano, Nathan Miller, Gavin Burlace, Vinny Chaney, Drew Mestas, Craig Burger, Nathan Zacharskiand Jack Shoemaker were all integral in keeping the game close until a couple of quick touchdowns by AB&GCin the last part of the game. Final score 20-6, AB&GC. Look for the 80# Gators next Saturday at 9am at DAA Park.

90lb
Gators – 31 ABGC – 12
The 90lb Gators continued their winning ways this week with a victory over ABGC, 31-12. Defensively the Gators were in the ABGC backfield all day not allowing their running backs to get much going. Standouts on the defensive side were Johnny Belfiore, Dylan Carl, Jack Fracyon, Jack Mandish, Danny O’Hagen, Cayden Pfundstein, Aidan Stephan, Colby Strange, Collin Toal and Drew Miller. Trent Moltz led the offense at QB along with some great runs by Colin Burlace and Malcolm Doster Jr. The offensive line was again in good form providing some big holes.
100lb
Gators – 19 ABGC - 0
The 100lb Gators improved to a 6-1 record on homecoming day having bested the Annapolis Boy's and Girls Club team 19-0. Key offensive contributors were J-Man Gaskins, Ben Taylor (rushing TD), Brandon Turner (5 for 7, passing TD) and Ian Beall (receiving TD), Victor Troese and Sam Keeny The offensive line led by Ian Froble at center, Barrett Travis, Taylor Smith, Kyle Grant, Will Merton, James Purnell provided great blocking all day. Defensively, the Gators were stout all day including a scoring a TD on a fumble recovery in the end-zone by Jaden Wheeler, and another fumble recovery by Franny O'Hara. Other defensive stand-outs included Peter Alexandrides, Johnny McElhenny, Isaiah Ventura, Tank Peeler, Patrick O'hara, Joe Bach, Donnie Mestas, Colin Chaney. The 100lb Gatos have a bye this week as they look to prepare for the final game of regular season against SRYA on the South River High School turf field.

Gators – 14 ABGC - 0
The 11U Gators posted there sixth shutout of the season by beating the Annapolis Boys & Girls Club 14-0 on Homecoming Day. The offensive line was led by McKay Brue and Joey Trainor giving way for running back Ian Krampf who scored on an 18yd run to help seal the win. The defense was led by defensive ends Nick Lilly and Ryan Wellington containing the ends and not letting the backs get outside, with Kyle Fleshman filling his gaps and leading the team in tackles. Congratulations to Ryan Wellington who received the Pillars of Leadership Award. Ryan is a leader and role model for not only his teammates but also his classmates and everyone he comes across.

Gators – 0 Gen Hwy - 28
Varsity U
Gators – 22 Panthers – 6
The Varsity U Gators ran their record to 7-0 with a 22-6 Homecoming victory over the Pasadena Panthers. The Gators went to halftime with a 22-0 lead behind strong blocking from the O line allowing Warren Dixon and Nick Vermillion to score touchdowns for the Gators. Zach Miller went two for three on two point conversion PATs to help the Gators get out to a comfortable lead. On defense Justice Hubbard added an interception and Garrett Phillips and Will Pyne made it tough going for the Panthers to move the ball. Jack Graziano won the Varsity U Pillars of Leadership award for 2012. The Pillar of Leadership award is given out to a member of each Gators team that best exhibits the 12 leadership qualities in the Gators’ Pillars of Leadership program. Jack has been a Gator since age 6 and is a true leader and great teammate. Congrats Jack!!
