Ask most moms out there who they are and most likely they will respond with, “I’m a mom.” We associate ourselves with our children. It is our job, it is who we are. Of course there are times when we are alone… like when the kids are both at school, but you are constantly thinking about them, what time they have to be picked up and where they need to go next. This is in no way a bad thing. I love my life and I love being a mom.
One of the things that I like to do is NOT think. Sounds funny, but I love to just stroll along and window shop or try on clothes somewhere. I like to drive with the music off and just be. I like to sit with a glass of wine and stare out the window… or sit outside with a good book and a breeze and just breathe.
I also like to jog (*like = must exercise instead of eat bon-bons)... when I’m out there listening to the beat of the music, I feel good… but getting myself to do it – that’s another story. However, I press on… every free chance I’ve had since both girls started school or I'm not subbing, I’ve been out there.

…And when things get dull - I vacuum. Don't tell my (Mr. Clean) husband, but I actually like a clean house. When too many things are out of place - or I can see dust assembling on my console table, I feel a bit edgy. Plus, that "alone time" gives me time to think and sing at the top of my lungs.
After all, I AM my own me...
