I’ve always thought it would be interesting if real life had a soundtrack. I mean… could you imagine? Next time danger was coming your way you‘d hear the Jaws theme...or when the love of your life was coming through the front door, you’d hear a love song.
Music is a big part of everyday life. The world thrives on music, without it, the day would be pretty mundane. It describes our emotions, it speaks for us. Every where you go, there is music playing. The grocery store, the mall, in your car, at home… even when you watch TV – the shows, movies and commercials all have music in the background.
Music means so much to me. It describes my mood, how I am feeling. I think there is a song for every emotion I’ve ever felt. I’m glad to see that my children express themselves that way too.

My girls and I have music playing or instruments banging at some point every day. It's crazy how many lyrics to songs the girls actually know. My youngest (7 years old) loves to sing with a pretend microphone or standing on her bed in front of her audience… a herd of stuffed animals that can’t defend themselves. I am amazed how music moves her. She is always singing and with a great passion. (She also has a great voice!) Of course, every once in awhile she will get the lyrics wrong and the song has a whole new meaning… but it is too cute to correct her.
Music is such a huge part of us that we even made musical poetry on a snow day last school year. We took the song, “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong and set it to pictures that the girls and I colored. It took about an hour for us to color the pictures and then another hour for me to figure out how to set it to music, which I finally did with the timing right and everything! I scanned each image into the computer and uploaded them to iMovie and then added the song. You can make each frame longer to stay put until the words change… pretty cool! I then took the actual pictures and bound them into a book for the girls to look at.
