Life's a Beach at Ocean City, MD

Life's a beach, especially at Ocean City, one of Maryland's greatest vacation destinations.

We conquered Ocean City in 12 hours. With the family packed and the car filled with gas, the just-over-two-hours trip was a breeze (thanks to a convertible Mustang). The beach is always the perfect destination for an unplanned, summer adventure. And supporting a local beach is even better.

Here's a few things that happened that day:

  • We all got tans. Surprise!
  • I only checked my e-mail once.
  • Kaden stayed in the water for hours.
  • Traffic was a breeze.
  • My mom packed Kaden a huge "snack pak".
  • Kaden caught a sand crab.
  • The police officer thanked us for obeying the crosswalk signs.
  • I made a new friend. A little boy inquiring about a scar on my leg.
  • We sat next to a family who had a little boy named Kaden.
  • We ate yummy Thrasher's french fries and tasty Dumser's Italian Ice.
  • The birds were attacking just about everything imaginable.
  • Kaden got a new boogie board, bucket/shovel combo, and swim trunks.

The day took a sharp turn when the lifeguards called a meeting for all the beach-goers. Apparently, there was a drowning earlier in the morning. Someone went swimming at their own risk, before a lifeguard was on duty. Because of this, the beach day was cut short at around 5 pm.

Overall, we had a great day. I would like to get back to the beach before school starts, but it looks like that may not happen- time is flying. Luckily, Ocean City can be enjoyed at anytime of the year. There's always a romantic getaway, a shopping excursion, or just a change of scenery.
