The department manages specialized recreational facilities, including two swim centers, two golf courses, three ice rinks, a baseball stadium, a softball complex, and programs tailored to diverse needs ranging from school-age childcare to adaptive recreation. It also cares for thousands of acres of land, encompassing community parks, greenways, archaeological sites, environmental and historical preserves, and large regional parks spanning several hundred acres. The Eastern Shore was very lucky in the wake of hurricane Sandy.  The Jersey shore - not so much.   I had spent many wonderful summers there with my in laws and kids. To help out this season I'm coordinating a donation effort with "Operations Jersey Shore Santa" (﻿﻿﻿<a href="http://www.facebook.com/OperationJerseyShoreSanta.org" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">www.facebook.com/OperationJerseyShoreSanta.org</a> ) here in the Edgewater area.   We will be driving the collected donations up to New Jersey the weekend of December 8th.
