Reaching out
Stop. Take a minute and think. Who do you know that could use a helping hand?

It's easy to get caught up in your day to day activities. A week passes in a breath and the once knee high little girl is suddenly walking down the aisle.
How many times have you found yourself saying things like, "I need to call so-an-so." or "Sometime this week I am going to… (fill in blank)" and then you never do it.
I find that when I make "to do" lists, I actually accomplish more than was on my list to begin with. (yes, I tend to add things that I do that weren't on the list...) I love crossing things off!

In the wake of tragedy, friends rally together to make meals, babysit or fill in for other needs of the family. Then the days pass, the weeks, the months and finally a year. Who is reaching out to them then?
Being a former military wife, the same thing can be said about our deployed troops and the families they leave behind. Sure you called them the first few weeks, even invited them over for dinner… but now, 4 months later - they are still holding up the home front, waiting… waiting… waiting.

Circumstances happen in our lives that keep us from being with our loved ones. Family moves away, friends grow up or change, people die.
Life goes on. People say it all the time. With or without loved ones by your side – we carry on. We do our day to day activities and rush around like we can never finish each task before days end. Life is precious. Life is a gift.
I will endure hardships but I must finish the race and enjoy the happy moments. Smile, give, hug… take a breath and reach out to others.
