The South River Youth Athletics (SRYA) competition cheer teams keep reaching for the stars as they shine bright at the 'Reach the Beach' competition. The Seahawk girls blazed through the 'Reach the Beach' National Cheer Competition on February 25, 2012 in Ocean City, MD. All three SRYA cheer teams placed at the national competition which means they qualify to go to the U.S. Finals. The U.S. Finals are the pinnacle of recreation cheer. The 8 and under cheer team, known as the South River Seahawks Minis, placed 5th out of 9 teams. The 12 and under team, known as the South River Seahawks Elite, placed 3rd. Finally, the 14 and under team, known as the South River Seahawks Extreme, placed 2nd. At national cheer competitions, teams that place in the top 5 qualify to go to the U.S. Finals. The SRYA competition cheer teams have two more competitions left in the winter season with the final competition, another National, held in Virginia Beach. Keep your cheer shoes on the ground, keep reaching for the stars and keep shining that SRYA spirit!
