SRYA Cheerleading Registration Is Open

What is a football game without cheerleaders? Cheerleaders add a little noise to the game and encourage the boys to win. Cheerleading is also a sport on it's own. There are many different competitions at many diffferent ages and levels across the country. College scholarships are offered for serious cheerleaders and this is the age where it all begins.

The SRYA has a terrific cheerleading program which has won many competitions last season including 2nd Place U.S. Finals Qualifier (14U competition Team) and 1st Place U.S. Finals Qualifier (10U Competition Team). The SRYA Cheerleading program was also awarded "Best Sportsmanship" by the Cheer and Dance Extreme judges.

Children as young as 3 years old can cheer and ages 7 and up compete as well as cheer on the sidelines. The cheerleader must be 7 by 1 August 2011 to compete. Registration is open from 1 June through 15 July 2011 and payment is due at the time of registration if you're paying online and 28 July 2011 if you are paying in-person.

In-person payments can either be cash or checks made out to SRYA and the child's name and "cheerleading" written on the memo line. A late fee of $5.00 per day will be added if registration is not paid on time unless prior arrangements have been made with the Cheer commissioner. Registration refunds will only be granted before the first scheduled football game in late August. Below are the fees associated with the SRYA cheer program:

• Registration for 6 and under (sideline only) - $100.00
• Registration for 7 and over (sideline and competition *does not include competition fees*) - $135.00
• Uniform security deposit (will be held and not cashed unless uniform is not returned) - $200.00
• Competition cheer shoes - $30.00 (est.)
• Competition crop top - $25.00 (est.)
• Competition hair bow - $12.00
• 6 and under sideline team hair bow - $10.00 (est.)
• Spanky - $13.00
• Sideline crop top purchase is optional
