The Dark Knight Rises (2012) Review

The Dark Knight Rises is a near perfect cinematic experience. It had me at the edge of my seat for the entire running time, which, by the way, is a seemingly long 2 hours 45 minutes. However, it does not feel long at all, for all of the excitement and tension happening on screen will make the time fly.

I was actually begging for more, even after sitting for nearly 3 hours.

Every single aspect is flawless here.

The acting: superb. Anne Hathoway makes a terrific Catwoman, and Christian Bale has evolved the Bruce Wayne character to be something more than just an aging billionare. The writing: great. Christopher Nolan and his writers sure do know how to put a story together. The direction: phenomenal and inventive. It is the very direction itself that serves as the main excitement. Nolan holds your attention with close attention to detail and beautifully elaborate action sequences. The only off thing about the film is that it is not as grounded in reality as its predecessors, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

The plot can get into some silly, unrealistic situations that take away from the grit of the remainder of the experience.

It all comes together to make one of the best films of the year. It is a MUST see in theaters, and if you can, see it in IMAX—the screen is bigger and the sound is larger than life. It might be a bit pricier, but you'll definitely be getting your money's worth. 

I give The Dark Knight Rises a 9.2/10.
