As I celebrate my 34th wedding anniversary today and look at this book that I wrote 47 years ago in 1st grade, many things come to mind!The first thing is, the biggest lie parents tell their kids is You can be anything or anyone you want! So not true in my case, as I certainly am not Mrs. Ringo Starr! I can not play center in the WBNA nor can I have a number one hit album, unless you love the sound of Fran Drescher as my voice is a close second.
A much as I wanted to be Mrs. Ringo Starr, I managed to marry a great guy, (like I would tell you if he was awful) he has to be right, to be with me for 34 years! Really though, I think he's part deaf as he has gotten used to hearing my nasal New York accent. He never says no because....why should he, when going in it's a losing battle, and I'll just make some joke and he will forget what the conversation was about anyway! And furthermore he's a great guy because he likes the Beatles music. Even though we're both die hard Dead Heads, he always lets me listen to my beloved Ringo Starr!
Getting back to the parent thing here, 35 years ago, my parents were like, no way are you bringing him here, that long hair, that fringed jacket, he's a hippie!!!! Well guess what folks, from day one they loved him and so did I A little older, a little wiser, (well a lot of both)I learned from that, I don't say a word about the guys my kids like, and so far, so good! But I do lie and tell them I would love to be the Biebs mother in law!
