Capt. Salem Avery Museum Presents: Wine Tasting and Quilt Making This Weekend
The Shady Side 18th century house is the beneficiary of Greenstreet Gardens' Wine Tasting in Lothian on Friday and will host a "memory quilting" session on Sunday.

On Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., Greenstreet Gardens in Lothian will host a special wine tasting. For $10, you can sample yummy fare from local caterers paired with wine and the proceeds will benefit the Capt. Salem Avery Museum.
On Sunday, bring a photo to the museum and take home a 12-by-12-inch memory quilt square with the help of Dr. Joan Gaither, teacher and fabric artist from the Maryland Institute College of Art.
Here are the specifics for each event.

Wine Tasting
Greenstreet Gardens just closed their fall festival and corn maze at the end of October. Here it is mid-November, and they've already got the Christmas and winter holiday decorations out of storage and hung up at the store.
They are kicking off the holiday season Friday with a wine tasting from 6 to 8 p.m. All of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Capt. Salem Avery museum. There will be live holiday music courtesy of the Garrett Music Academy. Admission is free, so check out the "Christmas Wonderland" decor, plus hear music and mingle with friends—old and new.

Sample wines and food provided by local caterers for $10, which will go to the educational and cultural programs of the Capt. Salem Avery Museum.
Memory Quilting
Gaither will demonstrate how to make a memory quilt. Even if you've never sewn a stitch, you can try your hand at memory quilting.
To participate, bring two to three photos of a special memory. The helpers at the museum, along with Gaither, will assist with doing the rest. You'll leave with a 12-by-12-inch quilt square to hang on your wall—or give as a gift this holiday season.
The event has two sessions: 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday (Nov. 19).
