County Executive Puts Out Call for Disability Commission Members

The 21-member panel advocates and makes recommendations on a variety of disability policies.

Legislation, transportation, housing, children's issues, architecture and accessibility, public relations—these are just a few of the things that the Anne Arundel County Commission on Disability Issues debates, discusses and delivers policy recommendations to county decision-makers.

And they are looking for a few good volunteers.

On Thursday, County Executive John Leopold announced that he is accepting applications from individuals interested in serving as a voting member of the commission.

The committee also holds an annual event known as DisABILITY Awareness Day (DAD) that highlights vital services, programs and achievements in a festival-like atmosphere. This year’s event will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 29 at Westfield Annapolis mall.
