Driver Dies After Single-Car Crash In Southern Anne Arundel County: Police

A 64-year-old man died after a single-car crash in Anne Arundel County. Two good samaritans tried to save him after his car left the road.

BRISTOL, MD — Police announced that a Calvert County man died Thursday after a single-car crash in southern Anne Arundel County. Officers identified the victim as 64-year-old Michael Magtutu of Chesapeake Beach.

The accident happened around 2 p.m. in Bristol. The red 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo was heading north on Maryland Route 4 near Talbot Road before the wreck.

The sedan left the road for an unknown reason and overturned in a cluster of trees. Two witnesses, an off-duty nurse and a retired law enforcement officer, pulled the driver from his car.

The Anne Arundel County Fire Department treated the man but eventually pronounced him dead on the scene, a press release said. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy on the victim's body to determine the cause of death.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department is still investigating. Detectives think the main cause of the crash was the car's failure to stay in its lane.
