Edgewater Bicyclist Collides With Car: Police
An Edgewater man is in the hospital after he was struck by a car Sunday; police have not cited either party.

Edgewater, MD — An Edgewater bicyclist is in the hospital after he was struck by a car Sunday morning, according to Anne Arundel County Police.
The accident happened just before 8 a.m. at the intersection of Muddy Creek Road and Fiddlers Hill Road. Investigators say a 2010 Honda Civic driven by Chandler Alexis Kirk, 19, of Edgewater was southbound on Muddy Creek Road approaching Fiddlers Hill Road.
As Kirk's vehicle neared the intersection, bicyclist Carlos Michael Johnson, 27, of Edgewater, crossed from the northbound side of Muddy Creek Road into the path of the Honda, according to police.

Kirk attempted to swerve the car, but was unable to avoid the collision and struck the bicyclist. The impact threw Johnson from his bike; police say he was not wearing a helmet.
Johnson was flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma, where he was listed Monday in stable condition.

The driver of the Honda was not injured.
Police say an error by Johnson appears to be the cause of the crash.
