Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks serves millions of residents and visitors annually through a wide variety of services and programs. Its primary focus is to provide comprehensive recreational programs for residents and safeguard valuable land through the maintenance and management of over 160 parks and natural areas. The department manages specialized recreational facilities, including two swim centers, two golf courses, three ice rinks, a baseball stadium, a softball complex, and programs tailored to diverse needs ranging from school-age childcare to adaptive recreation. It also cares for thousands of acres of land, encompassing community parks, greenways, archaeological sites, environmental and historical preserves, and large regional parks spanning several hundred acres. Its mission is to create opportunities that allow individuals to enjoy life, explore nature, and restore their health and well-being. Learn to EmPOWER™ Your Writing Skills, July 9-19, 9am-12 (no Fridays).  High School students will learn how to use the EmPOWER™ writing process, based on solid research and developed to help students connect oral language, organization of thoughts and writing.  EmPOWER™ strategies enable students to develop the internal dialogue that guides the writing process and supports thinking for effective writing. $480 Rising 9-12th graders only. This two-week course may be partnered with Summit's Boost your Executive Skills &amp; Function like a Champ in School course offered the same dates from 1pm-4pm. $960 for both.
