Its primary focus is to provide comprehensive recreational programs for residents and safeguard valuable land through the maintenance and management of over 160 parks and natural areas. The department manages specialized recreational facilities, including two swim centers, two golf courses, three ice rinks, a baseball stadium, a softball complex, and programs tailored to diverse needs ranging from school-age childcare to adaptive recreation. It also cares for thousands of acres of land, encompassing community parks, greenways, archaeological sites, environmental and historical preserves, and large regional parks spanning several hundred acres. West Street

Starting at 6:30 p.m., the City of Annapolis will host its annual parade on July 4, 2026, in the downtown area. The parade will kick off on West Street, before making its way from Park Place to Church Circle.
"Marching bands, community groups, and vintage vehicles take over downtown," reads an announcement from the city.
The parade will be followed by a performance at 7:45 p.m. by the Naval Academy band.
