Leopold Provides Free Hot Showers and Drinking Water to Weary Storm Survivors
With over 50,000 county households still without power, county executive hopes to ease plight.
Anne Arundel County Executive John Leopold is offering free showers at swim centers (in Annapolis and Glen Burnie) and free drinking water available at three sites in Annapolis, Arnold and Pasadena to residents who are still without power as a result of damage from Tropical Storm Irene.
In a statement from Leopold's spokesman Dave Abrams, the showers are available immediately to those who present identification showing they are county residents.
“Due to the prolonged power outage many of our citizens are lacking some basic necessities,” County Executive Leopold said in the statement. “We want to make sure these resources are available for those who need them.”

Drinking water is available from noon until 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Residents must bring a receptacle for water, as it is not bottled. There is a limit of 10 gallons per vehicle. Call 410-222-7582 during normal business hours if you have questions. The locations are:
