November Activities at the Senior Center in Edgewater

• The South County Senior Activity Center, 27 Stepneys Lane, Edgewater, will present “Super Magic Man Reggie Rice” at 1 p.m. Nov. 2. Rice is D.C.’s two-time Comedy Magician of the Year. His award-winning show has opened for Jordin Sparks from American Idol, and he also has appeared on national T.V.’s Travel Channel. His show is filled with amazing illusions, music, comedy, dance and audience participation. Call 410-222-1927 for information.
• The AARP Driver Safety Course is being offered free for veterans and their spouses with military identification of some sort. The class is offered from 8:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Nov. 7 at the South County Senior Activity Center, 27 Stepneys Lane, Edgewater. For all others, the fee is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. Checks are made payable to the instructor. Call 410-222-1927 for information.
• The South County Senior Center, 27 Stepneys Lane, Edgewater, will have a Veteran’s Day Observance at 11 a.m. Nov. 10. Commander George Martin of Mayo American Legion Post 226 will lead the center members in this tribute to those members who are veterans, and to veterans everywhere. Call 410-222-1927 for information.
• The Visiting Angels will help conduct the National Memory Screening Day memory tests from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the South County Senior Activity Center, 27 Stepneys Lane, Edgewater. Sign up at the front desk at the center for a time period for the test. Call 410-222-1927 for information.
• The South County Senior Activity Center, 27 Stepneys Lane, Edgewater, will have a “Movie on the Big Screen” featuring “The Conspirator” at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 16.  For information, call 410-222-1927.
• Sheryl Hoehner, a registered dietitian and licensed dietitian-nutritionist, will present “Ask the Dietitian” from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Nov. 17 at the South County Senior Activity Center, 27 Stepneys Lane, Edgewater. She will be available for private consultation about therapeutic diets such as low sodium or diabetic diets on a first come, first serve basis. Call 410-222-1927 for information.
• Ann Caldwell, a registered dietitian at Anne Arundel Medical Center, will present “Optimizing Nutritional Health for Seniors” at 1 p.m. Nov. 28 at the South County Senior Activity Center, 27 Stepneys Lane, Edgewater. She will talk about satisfying and healthy meals for one or two people. The program is sponsored by Bright View South River Assisted Living. For information, call 410-222-1927.

The South County Senior Activity Center is one of seven senior centers operated by the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities. It will be closed on Nov. 11 for Veteran’s Day; on Nov. 23 for a county service reduction day; and on Nov. 24 and Nov. 25 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
