Pickup Plows Into Tree; Driver Flown to Hospital

Emergency officials say a man was injured early Sunday when his truck struck a tree in Edgewater.

EDGEWATER, MD — Authorities have not released the name of a man whose pickup truck struck a tree early Sunday morning in Edgewater.

The crash was reported about 1:45 a.m. near Route 214 and Loch Haven Road, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

Firefighters took about 20 minutes to free the trapped driver, who was the lone occupant in the vehicle.

The patient, a 60-year-old man, was taken by paramedics to a Maryland State Police helicopter, which landed at South River High School. The patient was flown to Shock Trauma with serious, but not believed life-threatening injuries.
