Racist Graffiti Found At Mayo Skate Park
Racist graffiti at Mayo Skate Park has been reported, upsetting community members.
MAYO, MD — Residents of Mayo are upset after they discovered racist graffiti covering their public skate park. Someone wrote a racist message on the property, which is owned by the Mayo Civic Association. Someone also wrote the N-word beside a figure hanging from a tree at the skate park. Anne Arundel County used to own the lease to maintain the lot, but that has expired and it seems no one is responsible for the cleanup.
Fox 5 DC spoke with the man who first found the graffiti, which has been left there for weeks this summer. After Fox 5 DC contacted someone affiliated with the civic association, something was done. The individual took spray paint and covered up the graffiti as best as he could. Fox 5 DC reached out to the Anne Arundel County Police Department but has not heard back from them regarding the incident.
