School Travel Ban to Baltimore to Be Lifted

Field trips will resume this week, say Anne Arundel County schools officials, and proms are back on.

With an evening curfew lifted and calm returning to the streets, a weeklong ban by Anne Arundel County schools on field trips into the city of Baltimore is about to end.

Superintendent George Arlotto Monday announced that the school system’s moratorium on field trips and other student transportation to and from Baltimore will be lifted effective Wednesday, May 6.

Transportation for students enrolled in non-public settings and homeless students who attend Anne Arundel County schools will resume on Wednesday. School field trips scheduled for May 6 or thereafter can proceed as scheduled.

In addition, Chesapeake and Glen Burnie high schools have been told they may proceed with plans for their proms, which are scheduled to be held at M&T Bank Stadium on Saturday, May 9.
