Sheriff's Deputy Arrested In Harwood, Accused Of Intoxicated Driving: Officials
A sheriff's deputy was arrested in Harwood, officials said. Police accused him of driving while intoxicated. He is suspended with pay.

HARWOOD, MD — A deputy sheriff was arrested Sunday in Harwood, officials said. Police accused him of driving while intoxicated.
The Anne Arundel County Sheriff's Office identified the arrestee as Cpl. James Walker Jr. Walker has been with the agency for 25 years.
The sheriff's office said it immediately suspended Walker with pay pending the outcome of an investigation. This is normal protocol for law enforcement employees who are arrested.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department stopped a black Dodge Charger that was driving erratically around 8:40 p.m., a press release said. The stop happened at the intersection of Solomons Island Road and Mill Swamp Road.
The release said officers smelled alcohol, prompting Walker's arrest.

Police learned that the unmarked sedan belonged to the sheriff’s office, authorities said. Walker was not on duty at the time, and he was not in uniform.
A judge released Walker on recognizance, the release said.
The sheriff's office said it will conduct an internal review and fully cooperate with the state's attorney.
