Southern High's "The Sound of Music" Opens Tonight
The Southern Spotlight's spring musical is beloved Rogers and Hammerstein story of the Von Trapp family's flight from Austria in the 1930s.
The 50 or so students that make up the Southern Spotlights theater company have been working for the past two months to prepare for this weekend's "The Sound of Music" spring musical.
They've sewn costumes, learned their lines, painted sets and printed programs. They've worked with the band to learn the songs and convinced friends, family and local businesses to provide financial support. The live band has rehearsed over and over and knows Do-Re-Me by heart.
Last night, the actors ran through their lines in one final dress rehearsal. Director Courtney Eversfield addressed the few remaining kinks, like how the actors would exit the stage and where the spotlights should shine at various points in the show.
